Ponencia invitada del profesor Han van der Aa titulada: "Natural Language Processing in Business Process Management: Challenges and Opportunities".

Breve resumen:

Business Process Management (BPM) is the art and science of analyzing how work is performed in an organization with the aim to ensure consistent outcomes and to take advantage of improvement opportunities Classically, BPM has been primarily concerned with syntactic analysis of processes, focusing on task that target the control-flow perspective, such as process discovery and conformance checking. However, recent research has demonstrated the potential of employing Natural Language Processing (NLP) to also enable semantic analysis of processes, such as process querying and the generation of process models from text. In his presentation, Han van der Aa will show the possibilities that NLP techniques provide for various process analysis tasks, as well as highlight essential research challenges that remain open.

Breve semblanza del conferenciante:

Han van der Aa is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Computer Science of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where he is a recipient of a prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship. He obtained a PhD degree from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in January 2018. His thesis, entitled "Comparing and Aligning Process Representations", was subsequently published as an LNBIP monograph and received the runner-up dissertation award at the BPM conference. Han's research focuses on the development of automated methods for process analysis, primarily targeting use cases involving uncertainty and natural language. His work has resulted in over 30 peer-reviewed contributions, including articles in IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, Decisions Support Systems, and Information Systems, as well as in proceedings of the international conferences on Business Process Management (BPM), Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAISE), and Computational Lin guistics (COLING).
